Priests House Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for a Priests House Photographer?
Tucked away beside the atmospheric ruins of Barden Tower near Bolton Abbey, The Priests House is a really special Yorkshire wedding venue. Surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Yorkshire Dales, it has a wonderfully intimate and romantic feel, with historic stonework, countryside views and plenty of character. It’s a venue that feels a little bit different from the traditional large wedding setting, making it particularly lovely for couples who want their wedding to feel personal, relaxed and all about spending time with the people closest to them. The venue offers exclusive use, so you and your guests can enjoy the House, Chapel and surrounding grounds without sharing the space with another wedding.
The wedding ceremony takes place in the beautifully restored 15th-century Chapel, which is full of original features and medieval charm. The stone walls, characterful details and natural light coming through the windows create a gorgeous atmosphere for the ceremony, while the historic setting gives photographs a timeless feel. The Chapel can accommodate up to 80 guests for a ceremony, while the larger wedding setup can cater for up to 76 guests for the wedding breakfast, with additional evening guests. For smaller celebrations, the Oak Room in the main House provides a much cosier setting, with dark oak beams, open fires and candles creating a wonderfully romantic atmosphere.
For wedding photography, The Priests House is one of those venues where you really don’t have to go far to find somewhere beautiful to photograph. The Chapel itself is a fantastic starting point, particularly for natural portraits after the ceremony. The windows provide lovely light, while the old stone walls and historic details add plenty of atmosphere without needing much posing or staging. It also makes a brilliant option if the Yorkshire weather decides to do what Yorkshire weather does best!
Outside, the grounds around The Priests House and Barden Tower provide a completely different feel. There are plenty of opportunities for relaxed photographs of the two of you wandering together, as well as family and group photographs. The surrounding countryside and Wharfedale views give you those classic Yorkshire landscapes, while the ancient stonework of Barden Tower makes a particularly impressive backdrop for portraits. The combination of historic architecture and open countryside means you can create a really varied collection of photographs without spending hours disappearing off for portraits.
One of the lovely things about photographing here is that the surroundings lend themselves particularly well to natural, unposed images. Rather than standing in a line and saying “cheese” for half an hour, you can take a wander together, chat, laugh and enjoy a few minutes away from your guests while photographs are captured naturally along the way. The paths, stone buildings, gardens and countryside all provide different backdrops, so there is plenty to work with even during a relatively short portrait session.
If you’re lucky enough to have good weather, the Yorkshire Dales landscape really comes into its own. Golden-hour photographs can look particularly beautiful here, with the surrounding hills providing a spectacular backdrop. There is also the option of making use of the wider countryside around Barden Tower, giving your photographs a sense of place as well as capturing the two of you.
