Leeds Civic Hall is a distinguished wedding venue located in the heart of Leeds, West Yorkshire. This Grade II* listed building, inaugurated by King George V in 1933, showcases a harmonious blend of Classical and Art Deco architectural styles, designed by the renowned architect E. Vincent Harris. Constructed with Portland stone and crowned with twin 170-foot towers adorned by gilded owls—the emblem of Leeds—the Civic Hall stands as a testament to the city’s rich heritage and civic pride.
Architectural Elegance
The Civic Hall’s interior exudes grandeur and sophistication. The entrance hall features grey gritstone walls and green scagliola columns, leading to a 90-foot-long reception hall illuminated by three saucer-domed ceilings and historic chandeliers from the former Lord Mayor’s Rooms. The main staircase, adorned with stained glass windows by George Kruger Gray, adds to the building’s majestic ambiance.
Ceremony Options
Couples can choose from several rooms for their ceremony:
- West Room: Accommodates up to 38 guests, ideal for intimate gatherings.
- Banquet Hall: Hosts up to 90 guests, featuring ornate wooden paneling and large chandeliers, offering a regal setting.
- Conference Room: Suitable for up to 60 guests, used during specific dates in July and August when outdoor events occur in Millennium Square.
Ceremonies are available between 9:15 am and 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and up to 3:45 pm on Saturdays. A basic ceremony option, limited to the couple and two witnesses, is offered on the last Monday of each month.
Additional Amenities
The Civic Hall also offers a newly refurbished events room for post-ceremony celebrations, accommodating up to 40 standing guests. Drinks and canapé catering packages are available to enhance your celebration
