Photographer’s Bar Distinction Award

Guild of Photographers – Photographer’s Bar

On Saturday 6th February 2021 it was the Guild of Photographers annual awards evening. This obviously had to be virtual this year, but everyone still made a fantastic effort with dressing up and joining the Guild of Photographer’s Directors, Lesley and Steven, for a fantastic fun filled evening of celebration.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I have been awarded the Photographers Bar Distinction award for my Pet Pawtrait Packages. This means that I have maintained a consistent level of skill throughout the year within the image of the month competition, where I enter 3 images a month, for 10 out of the 12 months of the year, to be scored by a panel of judges.

Taken from the Guild’s website: “Membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’ is a unique distinction only awarded to those photographers who have successfully had images assessed by the Guild of Photographers over the course of a year and have attained a score that evidences an exceptional level of professional skill and consistency, throughout that a full year.

The Guild of Photographers is a highly respected association for all photographers, and its competition attracted over 16,000 entries in 2020 – all judged by an expert Panel of Judges each month. Points are allocated to entries and these are then totalled at the end of the year. Those who reach the required threshold are then awarded membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’.

Membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’ is a distinction that is exceedingly difficult to achieve – in fact only about 250 photographers have achieved it in the 7 years since its inception, during which time over 75,000 images will have been entered for assessment by photographers across the UK and from overseas.”

This was my main photography goal for 2020, so I am over the moon to have achieved it! This year’s goal is to attain another silver award or few, and going for the gold! A few of my favourite pet images from 2020 that were judged and awarded can be found throughout this blog.

What an amazing lady, with so much patience and with four cats who are all divas she had the patience of a saint. I will definitely be organising a return visit. The photos are fantastic I’m so happy I chose her. Thank you Julia from me and the girls!

Julia came to our house to take pictures of my cats and bulldogs. She was so patient with them all and they loved posing for her. The Bulldogs decided they loved her so much that they both dived on her smothering her with slobber kisses. She took it all in her stride and was amazing with them. I will definitely get her back.
