Last wedding before lockdown

2020, been a ‘funny’ year so far; a new storm each week for the first couple months, and now Covid-19 lockdown, with all of my remaining 2020 wedding couples having to reschedule their wedding to much further into this year or to 2021 (if you’ve been affected by this whether you’re a current client of mine or not, my virtual door is always open if you would like to have a chat about anything or whether I am able to help).

However, I was lucky enough to have been able to photograph Bex and Ollie’s wedding in February 2020 down in Bedfordshire in the midst of storm Dennis, and just before lockdown was put in place, I was able to attend this gorgeous wedding at the York Pavilion Hotel on the outskirts of York City Centre.

This poor couple were (understandably) tearing their hair out leading up to their wedding day, but good news in the end and were able to go ahead with their special day. They were married at St Michael le Belfrey in York City Centre right next door to the Minster before heading back to the York Pavilion for the remains of their wedding celebrations.

The bride is American, with the majority of her family and friends still living in America, so a lot were sadly unable to join us, but the couple had a last minute idea and had a camera phone in the ceremony with them so they could live stream the wedding ceremony for their friends and family back in America to watch, along with others in the UK who were unable to attend.

The York Pavilion Hotel boasts beautiful gardens within the grounds, perfect for group photographs and also some hidden treasure spots for more romantic couples photographs as well, but also have plenty of beautiful spots within the property just in case the weather isn’t on our side including a romantic staircase, a chequered floor and plenty of silhouette options. They also have beautiful and large airy bridal suites, perfect for the hustle and bustle of the bride and her entourage to prepare and get ready prior to the wedding.

The Sandy Richardson suite was host for the evening reception; the food (as always at this hotel) was amazing, the speeches were both emotional and funny, DJ Ollie (been to many events with him and he is honestly absolutely fantastic!) was on top form encouraging everyone to join in dancing, and joining in himself, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

This wedding was such a beautiful wedding to be a part of, and I’m so happy for them both that it was still able to go ahead despite all the worry leading up to the day. Congratulations to such a wonderful couple and their families.
