The estate was envisioned by Mike Hogg, a respected York-based builder and cabinetmaker who founded Hogg the Builder in 1973. In 1998, he brought his dream to life by establishing Griffon Forest Holiday Lodges, followed by the opening of Sandburn Hall in 2005. Mike’s passion for timber craftsmanship is evident throughout the venue, particularly in the Grand Function Hall, which features impressive oak ‘cruck’ beams and traditional timber pegs—a nod to his dedication to quality and design.
