April Sunshine

Whilst we would normally associate April with ‘showers’, this was definitely not the case for April 2019! Four weddings photographed in April and not a drop in sight! Even the Easter weekend was a scorcher!

I was in my hometown of Bedford for my first wedding of the year, for a stunning intimate ceremony at The Old Town Hall then some intimate portraits around the River Gt Ouse. It was a hazy sunny day so gave me a chance to try the light and airy look, and absolutely loved them!

Second, I visited the Holiday Inn Marina in Hull for Natalie and Matty’s Beauty & the Beast inspired wedding – Natalie being a massive Disney fan which I was super excited about! Her bouquet was a mixture of white, red and blue roses, to match Matty’s suit and her bridesmaids dresses and flowers as well; the red roses to match the enchanted rose in Beauty and the Beast and the blue suits to match that of the Beast’s. Their wedding cake was pretty special too as you can see in the photograph!

I joined Natalie bright and early in her hotel room with her mum and bridesmaids to photograph the hustle and bustle of getting ready and photograph the smaller details before heading down to the marina to meet Matty and his groomsmen.

The ceremony was beautiful and I then stayed to capture their chosen group photographs and photographs of the newlyweds around the grounds and by the Marina, a beautiful setting for the hotel especially in the sunshine and warm weather we were graced with that day. Everyone was so welcoming and we laughed so much through the day, a truly wonderful day to remember.

The Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry, Scotland was host to my third wedding for Jeni & Peter so myself and my second shooter (my husband on this occasion) decided to take advantage of the easter weekend and made a long weekend of it, and wow what amazing weather we had, and the drive up to Pitclochry was absolutely stunning! We went to explore the venue and church on arrival, picking out the best spots for photographs on the wedding day.

I met with Jeni and her really chilled out bridal party in their hotel room on the morning of the wedding to photograph the finer details such as bouquet, jewellery and having their hair and make up done. I also took the opportunity to photograph Peter and his groomsmen before making their way down to the church, just a short walk down the hill from the venue where my second shooter was waiting for them and ready to photograph the guests arriving for the wedding ceremony.

Jeni and her dad arrived to the church in a elegant horse and carriage, which then proceeded to take her and her new husband around the village of Pitlochry before making their way to join their guests back at Atoll palace for the wedding reception.

We took full advantage of the weather and the beautiful grounds for the couple’s requested group photographs and newlywed photographs before heading into a separate part of the hotel for their wedding breakfast and reception party, which hosted a band and traditional Scottish Ceilidh dancing – an absolutely fantastic atmosphere and perfect way to end such a fabulous wedding day. You can see more images from their wedding day here.

My final April wedding was in my current hometown of York at the York Registry Office. Tanya and Mike had an intimate ceremony attended by a hand full of their closets family and friends, followed by some photographs in the gardens of the Registry office.

I first met Tanya and Mike at the first wedding I photographed back in 2015, and from that moment they’ve always said that when they get married they want me there as their photographer, and what an honour it was.

York Registry office has their own beautiful garden, but they are also situated a stone throw away from the York Museum gardens and York City Centre, hosting some other absolutely stunning options for more photographs before heading onto your wedding reception.
